Larry Kraft Announces Candidacy for Re-election in Minnesota House District 46A

St. Louis Park, MN -- December 23, 2025 -- Larry Kraft, current State Representative for House District 46A - St. Louis Park, today announced he will seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in November 2026.

“Skyrocketing costs for health insurance, home insurance and housing are some examples of things in this country that aren’t working,” said Kraft. “From my interactions with people in our community, and around Minnesota, it’s clear folks recognize fundamental change is needed. I am committed to leading and advocating for bold action on policies like single-payer universal health care, statewide housing reform and investment, and climate legislation that both reduces our climate impact and improves our Minnesota economy.”

As a legislator, Kraft has been lead author on 30 bills that have become law, on issues including climate change, transportation, transit, mental health, housing, plastics recycling, consumer protection, and more. Most recently, in response to the 2024 tragic DWI crash at Park Tavern that killed two people and injured 12 others, he led bipartisan legislation to strengthen DWI laws.

Kraft also serves as an Assistant Leader for the House DFL, DFL Vice-Chair of the Energy Committee, Co-Chair of the House Climate Action Caucus, and on the campaign side, Co-Chair of the House DFL Finance Committee.

For the 2026 session, he is drafting legislation on: balcony/plug-in solar, to help more people save money by using renewable energy; virtual power plants, to cut costs and make better use of our existing electrical grid; and super speeders, to reduce death on our roads. He’ll be working with colleagues to get a bonding bill passed that includes investment in St. Louis Park to help reduce pressure on property taxes. He is also working with high school students on a new voluntary climate education opportunity.

“It has been a difficult term, both with gun violence in Minnesota, and with the dangerous and often illegal actions of the federal government. But I am more determined than ever to fight back, stand up for our democracy, and accelerate progress on crucial priorities including housing, health care and the issue that brought me into politics, climate change.”

In addition to his work in the Minnesota House, Kraft has served on St. Louis Park’s city council and has both business and non-profit executive experience. He and his family have lived in St. Louis Park for 22 years. For more information, visit https://larrykraftslp.org.
